Gus Tails - Episode 29
A little too late for someone's coffee but anytime of day is the right time for Gus Tails.
Welcome to the 29th episode of Gus Tails where we look back at the life of Gus the Basset Hound. In our last episode (Episode 28) we saw Gus on the road, plus Curry, Louise and Dyna, the feral cat.
Tiger always enjoyed a good Christmas tree. This photo was taken the week before Christmas 2015.
However, Tiger wasn’t always a fan of having his photo taken as witnessed by this photo as Tiger walked off set.
Louise was determined to stay awake all of Christmas Eve in the hopes of catching Santa Claws in the act of delivering presents. Tiger had told Louise that the correct spelling was Claws, not Claus. Louise wasn’t sure which spelling was correct and thought Santa would clarify things later that evening. Sadly, Louise did fall asleep relatively early the evening of Christmas Eve and missed the chance to talk to Santa. Still she wonders “Claus or Claws?” She also wonders does anyone really know?
A post Christmas 2015 photo with Louise and Currie dressed and ready for an outside walk.
Gus was very cautious about showing his ears fully unfurled. He felt that such an image would only be appreciated by the very few and discerning. He was also concerned that someone not used to the majesty of Basset ears could actually be harmed by seeing his ears fully unfurled, sort of like staring at a solar eclipse. That’s why there are so very few photos of Gus with both ears unfurled to their full length.
In contrast, Gus had no problem in showing the full length of a Bassett body. Here we see him from nose to tail or from tail to nose, depending on where you started looking.
Being a proper gentleman, Gus was probably the first on his bed, then Dyna joined him. He was rarely, only in cases of extreme napping need, the type to lay down on an already occupied bed.
Though a little out of focus, this is a good photo of Gus taking a nap on one of his favorite chairs.
Given the choice, Dyna would prefer a nap in a nice bag or cardboard box.
Episode 30 is coming up next week with a rarely if ever seen collection of photos of Gus and his friends.
Our family has been SO lucky to have such wonderful pets! I love seeing these old pictures 🥹♥️
