A spiced holiday ale from Five Stones Artisan Brewery in New Braunfels, Texas
We’ve reached the end of day one of this Advent season and if this is the first post you’ve read you are already behind! To catch up feel free to look back in time at:
Prelude to Advent: Setting the stage and explaining why I need to clean out my hoarded craft beers only to make room for more. Thoughtful planning and preparation is essential to effective execution, but more on this topic in future posts.
Advent calendar 2024 - Day 0: Getting an early start on this Advent season with visits to Fitzhugh Brewing and Vista Brewing.
For day one of the 2024 Advent season I chose a beer from 2023: Spiced Holiday Ale from Five Stones Artisan Brewery in New Braunfels, Texas. Lynn and I have been to Five Stones twice, both times in the fall, once in 2023 and again, just recently in 2024. When we first visited Five Stones in the fall of 2023, I bought home a six pack of their holiday ale. They have a lovely location on the outskirts of New Braunfels with a large outdoor area. On top of the location, they also have a nice selection of very tasty brews, some of which you’ll be hearing more about during this Advent season.
For this Advent season I will be using the glass you see above, an early Christmas present from Lynn, my far better half. As you can see, this first ale of the Advent season was so tasty, I nearly finished the can before I got around to taking a photo. Spiced Holiday Ale is a rather dark pour and comes in a 6.8% ABV. Hints of cinnamon, vanilla beans, nutmeg and all spice make for a wonderful drink on a cool evening.
On Day 2 I have a tasty brew from the oldest craft brewery in Texas.
