Gus Tails - Episode 53
Renewing memories of a good compadre. Fall of 2017 when Gus was nearly eight years old.
Welcome to the 53rd episode of Gus Tails where we look back at the life of Gus the Basset Hound. In our last episode (Episode 52) we looked back to photos of Gus and his friends from the late summer of 2017.
Every episode of Gus Tails contains a link to the previous and, once it is published, future post. This makes it hopefully easy to walk back and forth through the life of Gus and his friends.
If you are new to Gus Tails and want to start at the beginning then Episode 1 of Gus Tails is for you!
I particularly like the color tones in this photo of Gus napping on the couch.
In the Wimberley house Gus had a bed in the living room, our bedroom and my “office.” I guess I should have put the word “my” in quotes as well because in truth every room was Gus’ room. In this photo I like how ears seem to be askew, that he plopped on to his bed and let his ears fall where they may. Gus was casually elegant.
We’ve had this hospital chair in all of our homes and it has always been a favorite resting place for our animal friends.
Gus often crossed his paws. In this photo I imagine him saying “So, tell me how was your day?”
Here, deep in a nap, Gus has his ears gently folded in.
This and the following photos are all from one day. It shows the constant struggle of a Basset Hound trying to find the right position to spend his day.
Here, laying under a cover, Gus is able to rest his weary body and soul.
A full body shot of Gus staying warm under a throw.
And that’s a wrap for this episode of Gus Tails. Come back next week for Episode 54.
Agh! Gus! It was so hard to do any work in my office after Anna passed. There was still hair all over the furniture and I kept waiting to get interrupted by her little paws on my pant legs, wanting me to look down at her and let her help me with my work. I wouldn't say I ever moved on from that feeling of having my little work buddy. As I write this, Zoey is bundled up in her bed next to my desk; I just always think that she wouldn't be here without Anna.
