Welcome to the 54th episode of Gus Tails where we look back at the life of Gus the Basset Hound. In our last episode (Episode 53) we looked back to photos of Gus and his friends from the fall of 2017.
Every episode of Gus Tails contains a link to the previous and, once it is published, future post. This makes it hopefully easy to walk back and forth through the life of Gus and his friends.
If you are new to Gus Tails and want to start at the beginning then Episode 1 of Gus Tails is for you!
Ah, a Noir Gus - the shadows highlight his handsome profile.
A few minutes later Gus adjusted his position leaving one of his ears folded. I may have leaned over and placed his left ear in a folded position across his head.
Gus and I were on a stroll along the roads and trails of Wimberley, Texas when I took this photo. Gus and I went on long strolls on the days that that I wasn’t on the road. He was the perfect companion, always excited for the strolls, the smells, and the sights. It wasn’t at all strange that people would pull the car over, get out, say hello to Gus, and give him a few pets. I became known in town as Gus’ dad.
Gus wasn’t quite ready to be a part of a Sunday morning. He stayed tucked in with his head under a pillow while the rest of the house was up and about.
A few minutes later, Gus was no longer in his bunker. He tossed a pillow or two to the floor to give him more room on the couch.
The same day but 10 hours later. It may appear that Gus had not made much progress. You have to trust me - Gus had a very full day.
An hour later Gus had rearranged things just a bit but seemed very satisfied with the results.
An hour later Gus was done for the day but he kept his nose out in case tempting smells came his way.
Let’s end this episode with two photos from strolls. In this one Gus is pointing out a little fall color.
You might have noticed some discoloration on the frame of the dog stroller. Basset Hounds are famed for their ability to sling drool.
That’s it for Episode 54. Come back next week for Episode 55 of Gus Tails.
"Gus's dad!" I'm a little sorry not sorry that I also know the names of my neighbors' pets, but not the names of my neighbors themselves.
