Welcome to the 59th episode of Gus Tails where we look back at the life of Gus the Basset Hound. Our last episode (Episode 58) looked back at the year end holidays of 2017 when Gus had just turned eight years old.
Every episode of Gus Tails contains a link to the previous and, once it is published, future post. This makes it easy to walk back and forth through the life of Gus and his friends.
If you are new to Gus Tails and want to start at the beginning then Episode 1 of Gus Tails is for you!
If you are a close reader of Gus Tails you might be wondering what happened to the regular Wednesday cadence. No real reason, just that last week was a tad bit chaotic. With each passing day I intended to catch up and didn’t. So here we are on a Tuesday with an episode of Gus Tails, and tomorrow, Wednesday, we will get back on our usual cadence.
Yep, no Gus in this picture. We woke up to a light freeze/snow the morning of January 3, 2018. I took this photo while sitting inside my truck. My side windshield had a flurry of snow crystals that looked rather nice against the background of a wooden fence.
Gus was not interested in my tales of snow crystals and preferred the comfort of a warm couch and pillow.
Later that same week, Gus was napping and used his wonderfully large ears to hide his eyes from the light.
A few minutes later, Gus has adjusted his position but continues on with his early evening nap.
Dyna the feral cat seems very comfortable on an early January morning in 2018.
Gus always enjoyed being covered for a nap, be it a blanket or pillows. Gus had many favorite blankets but none of them lasted too long as Gus would chew on his blanket to help him relax.
A few days later I caught this photo of Dyna tucked into bed.
The main thing to take away from this photo is how large Gus’s ears were. In this photo we have a good view of one of his ears unfurled on the couch.
And here, we see Gus napping on a rug, one ear tucked under his head, the other unfurled.
Sometimes Gus was just so tired that he would plump down in one move. In this case his ears are tucked under his neck.
Gus was a restless sleeper, adjusting his position often. These two photos were taken about eight minutes apart. His ears were freed.
Tomorrow (since it is a Wednesday) we will have another episode of Gus Tails! Hope you will be there for all of the fun.
