Welcome to the tenth episode of Gus Tails where we look back at the life of Gus the Basset Hound. Last week in Episode 9 we looked back at Christmas 2011, its aftermath and Gus and Dyna recovering from the best New Year’s ever.
While Gus did enjoy his time indoors, he loved to wonder about outside when the weather was nice.
There were still days that Gus wanted to shut the outside world out. This one day in February 2012 he used his ears to cover his eyes and shut out the noise and light so he could take a seriously good nap.
There were also times when Gus was clearly annoyed at the number of pictures I took. Dyna, as you can see, could care less.
Not much later that same evening the tables were turned. Dyna wondered why I kept disturbing her and Gus was sound asleep.
Gus striking a regal pose during one of his walks. When he did this there was little I could do but wait for him to continue his walk. There are few non-exhausting ways to get a stubborn Basset Hound up on his feet and walking when he isn’t interested in moving.

Gus, too tired to step onto his bed says the rug is a great place to take a nap.

Tired of the day Gus turns his back on me to take a long nap, confident his friend Dyna is watching over him.
This photo was taken on April 17, 2024. Louise is taking a brief nap during the work day. She’s snuggled up to her Gus pillow.
In Episode 11 of Gus Tails we learn more about Gus’ rigorous napping schedule, tree ducks, and Gus playing with Willow the Pit Bull.
